Supplier Spotlight: Slow Rise Farm

100% organic wild Maine blueberries and fruit snacks.

About the company:

Kate Mahaffey and Nathan Dore have maintained their 8 acres of blueberry fields since 2009 in Pittston, Maine.  In 2020, they leased another 11 acres a few miles down the road.

They named their business Slow Rise Farm because their fields are on a beautiful slow rise towards the top of Blinn Hill in Dresden and Pittston, and they also like the reminder to take things "slow" in this fast-paced, overwhelming time.

Kate is always exprimenting with new ways of using blueberries, and blueberry fruit leather was a hit with her 2 sons, Joshua and Samuel.  Family and friends loved it, too, and Kate loved that it was 100% blueberries, sweet, and healthy!

Blueberries and More:

After a couple years of development --between the never-ending renovations of the old farm house that came with the fields, raising 2 sons, and field maintenance -- Kate finally developed a blueberry fruit snack for retail. She would love to eventually expand her fruit snack line to include other Maine grown fruits.  Maine grown apple, cranberry, and peach fruit snacks are currently in development!  All products are 100% MOFGA certified organic.
